Hey there Mr. Ballew how's life treating you? Don't know if you remember me or not but I was in your Alg II and Math Analysis classes back in 92 and 93. I just want to thank you for being such a great teacher. You always motivated me to try, to reason, to stay awake. You always let it slide when D ve Clark and I sat in the back of class and cracked jokes the whole time. But you know what? I actually learned a whole lot from you, don't know how much Dave learned though. Anyway, Just wanted to say hey. I attending Texas Wesleyan University if Ft. Worth currently, I graduate this spring. yeah. I remebered you were from Dallas because you told us a story one time about a kid getting shot in the hallway where you went to school. It's a little better here now I think. I went to the U.S. Air Force A ademy Prep school for a year and was accepted to the Academy, but I turned it down. Oh yeah, I was looking through some old stuff the other day and found all of my assignments from the first T.E.A.M. math class you taught in 93. That was a great class. Had lots of fun and improved my mind. I took Calculus in college as a freshman and earned a B. Probably because I was a freshman. Then I took Calculus II and earned a C, also as a freshman. But I'm not satisfied with that so I'm taking it again next s mester so I can get an A. I still remember some of those formulas and short cuts you taught us Mr. Ballew. Who woulda thunk it? You are one of the few favorite teachers I ever had and I thank you. Keep on Keepin on, and if any of your students give yo a hard time, slap 'em around a bit, they'll thank you for it in the long run. Sorry this message is so long. Hi....You may not know it, but your name was just about the first to surface as various alums began to search the net for connections to Misawa - you appeared in a geometry newsgroup. I think your postings first told us that the high school had been renam d. Over the 18 months following, over 2,000 alums were located, and about 300 attended the reunion in Las Vegas in June. Hi Mr. Ballew! It's good to see you're still doing what you've always been pretty good at - showing the misguided the true path to mathematical salvation. Never found the Homeland myself (not smart enough), but I've always appreciated words from the Enl ghtened Ones. =)

I apologize for being so out of touch. The mathematical probability of my writing everyone has been approaching the origin in the past year or so. But it's good to see you on the web - I knew it wouldn't take you very long. And it's a great idea to put those inquisitive minds through problems. I have a professor like that now - he throws out a lot of problems and sees if we can solve any of them. It's a great class: EE300 - Computational and Statistical Methods for Elect. Engr.

I've been using alot of great math tools recently - Matlab and Maple top the list. They apply to alot of the circuit theory and signal processing that we're getting into. It's tough stuff, but I always enjoy the computer application part.

I'm also taking my last calculus class now - it's all about differential equations. It's funny because I was telling a buddy of mine about you the other day when I was reminding him about the quotient rule. "'Bottom D Top minus Top D Bottom all over Bot om Bottom' is what my old calculus teacher used to tell me." Much thanks, Mr. Ballew.
