On the Road Again...
photo
Me and Willie Nelson ... Forgive my sluggish rate of posts, but visiting family and traveling the country reduces me to problems I can solve on the highway.... which is pretty few.. But you do learn stuff on the road... There are a lot of towns in the US named Havana... go figure.. and there appears to be bamboo growing along the road across Mississippi and Alabama... (once you get away from the Mississippi River, Alabama and Mississippi are indistinguishable..should only be one state)...I'm just finishing my trek across US 84, which from Texas to Georgia is called El Camino.. much of it across Texas and Louisiana is along the Spanish routes connecting the northern parts of the Spainish controlled areas in North America.
I visited the first Cathedral in the Mississippi territory in Natchez, and they had several stained glass windows for Women, which is cool. Theresa, the Little flower was blocked by a new elevator to get to the upper balcony section, but there was a Saint Susanna( go on, you did NOT know that)... She was a Roman Virgin and Martyr, kiilled for her Christian beliefs, and is the daughter of another saint, Saint Gabinus. Her feast day is August 11th, so if you don't have anything to celebrate that day, say a few "Hail, Marys" to Susanna.
Visit a church, save a puppy...yeah, I do my good deads... Somewhere east of Natchez on US 84 (my current NOT-major Highway to travel) I had to stop and rescue a couple of hound puppies of questionable heritage..... dashing into the highway at great personal risk... (blush,,, I'm a hero).
More stuff you learn on the highway... found a roadside marker that marked a line where the Choctaw and Creek nations divided their land along a high ridge... then a little while later I learned (not on a highway sign) that the Choctaw had shamans, called Tombiglee, who were responsible for picking the bones of their dead. They were very highly thought of and had special tattoos for marking. OK, I know some high school female out there is going to be using this to campaign their folks for a tattoo..."But Dad, Mr. Ballew says that Choctaw Shamans had tattos... I'm sure they probably had a rose tattoo right at the Bikini Line.. it seems soooo spiritual, .."...
It's late, and Im tired, but more later...
